Alves: Back on track

On Saturday, Boro got back to winning ways, with a 1-0 victory at the JJB stadium, courtesy of a late goal from Jeremie Aliadiere.

Afonso, on the pitch for the first 78 minutes, found chances hard to come by, but put in an industrious display, and was often to be found dropping deep to help out the defence.

Boro now lie 12^th with nine points from seven games. Their next game – on 18 October – is a daunting home tie against league leaders Chelsea.
